Det här är vad deltagarna på konventet LeakyCon fick ta del av tidigare i veckan (det är på engelska så om någon tycker det är lite klurigt att förstå så använd translate.google.com!)
''Two years ago, J.K. Rowling (or Jo, as we know her) sat down to figure out what she could do for the fans that was special and celebrated Harry Potter and the magic of reading. We all know what conclusion she came to, or at least we know a little bit about it. Her gift to us comes in the form of Pottermore.com, a “virtual interactive experience,” although no one really knows what that is. I attended the Pottermore event at LeakyCon, and I took notes the entire time. Here is all the information I got from the hour-long presentation. They started with the introduction that I wrote above, albeit with a bit more eloquence and finesse and a British accent. They recapped what we all know about the hidden locations on maps that all spelled out POTTERMORE when put together. They said that Jo was keen for it to go to the fans first, so she made sure to release it on fansites. Melissa Anelli said, “We joked that we’d break the internet…but the internet broke us.” It is “what is now known as possibly the most frustrating website.” It has had 6.5 million visitors from 218 countries. Pottermore has 170,000 followers on twitter. People were tweeting Obama, “WHAT IS POTTERMORE” - people were and are desperate to know. They made fun of Nerimon a bit for his video about Pottermore before starting to explain about Pottermore. So what exactly is Pottermore? They were sure to mention that it is NOT MMORPG or any kind of roleplay game. “Is it an encyclopedia? Sort of.” It is NOT social networking, although there can we social interaction on the site. You can add friends. “It’s a really simple thing. It’s a digital experience that revolves around reading of the Harry Potter books.” A walk-through of the story, of some sort, only you can meander off the oft-beaten trail. There’s not a name for this other than “digital interactive experience,” because, as Melissa said, “this kind of thing does not exist.” Yet. There will be new content, all written by Jo. She’s written 18,000 words so far, and she hasn’t stopped yet. The notebooks that she keeps full of information and backstories are all going into Pottermore. Pottermore will consist of the main storyline, several “moments” in each book, and shared experiences (which they didn’t really explain). In just book one, there are 44 “moments” in Pottermore. One of the moments they showed us was of, what I think was around page 120 of Harry Potter 1 (although I don’t remember), around where Ron was telling Harry, “Don’t talk back to Snape. I heard he gets really nasty.” As for the Sorting? “If you think you’ve been sorted by 8 million online sorting hats…no, you have not,” said Melissa. It’s all Jo. You go through a quiz with questions that are different for every user, and just because there are four possible answers does not mean that each answer represents a House. Hufflepuffs will get something extra that none of the other Houses get…although Slytherins will also get more information. Gryffindor will get the least because we know so much from the books already. The storyline starts in Privet Drive, however. You can scroll over items to access new writings by Jo, and you can click on items to pick them up and store them or learn about them. You can find hidden objects and unlock new information from objects and people. We got a sneak preview of Petunia and Vernon Dursley’s relationship, and later a sneak preview all about Minerva McGonagall. Did you know she broke the International Statue of Secrecy in order to be with a Muggle boy she loved, who broke her heart in the end? Well, you’ll read about it in Pottermore. You progress to travel to Diagon Alley, where you have to buy everything on your shopping list after accessing your own Gringotts account. It looked like you start off with 175 Galleons, though it may or may not be different for every user - I don’t know. You can buy other things - crystal vials and brass scales and candy and even your own pets - and these things may or may not come in handy later on in your journey. I’m getting ahead. I forgot about registration. After you register, your full name appears on a list of witches and wizards and then you pick your username out of five suggested names for you. You don’t get to type in your own username for safety reasons - Harry Potter is partially a children’s novel, after all. Every username option is a combination of two words seen in Harry Potter (like “moon” or “patronus”) and a number. You go through the storyline “chapter by chapter.” And like I said, it starts in Privet Drive. It’s all animated, and you travel through layers. It’s the same exact story, but with one addition…you. “This was all started as a thank-you to you. We need you to make it what you want it to be.” In Diagon Alley, after you finish all your other shopping, you pick up your wand. There are over 33,000 possible wand combinations. Ollivander asks you a series of questions and then you receive your wand. On the Hogwarts Express, you can start collecting chocolate frog cards. “[Sorting is] a one-time thing. There’s no going back.” If you do apply to multiple Houses, you get a “Hatstool,” which was not explained because they didn’t want to spoil us. The House badges are GORGEOUS, and all approved by Jo. She will approve everything and always be a part of it. So, yes. Pottermore. Jo will always be a part of it, as stated earlier. There will constantly be added content. It is “kind of an encyclopedia.” It is COMPLETELY free, and ALWAYS will be. Sorting = one time only. The House Cup and House points are things that you contribute to, and the House Cup will be rewarded just before the next book goes. Much of it is focused on child safety. There are no mobile apps - YET. They want to get one rolling eventually, and also want to find a way to integrate the e-books into the experience. It is NOT a fanfic site. There are no chatrooms or podcasts - it is canon, not fanon or fandom-based. YES, there WILL be a shop where you can buy e-books and other things. The languages it will be immediately released in are English, French, Italian, German, and Spanish. Later on, they’re adding Japanese - and possibly more in time. That’s all I’ve got. OH. One more thing. LeakyCon members have a CHANCE at getting a beta run before it opens for everyone in October. Keep checking your email to find out if you went to LeakyCon!'' 17 jul, 2011 16:30 |
