GUD VAD NI ÄR UNDERBARA, MINA UNDERBARINGAR! ♥ Tack!!!!
Puss! 24. A fire Suddenly there was a knock on the porch door behind them. Lily didn't bother to turn her head to see whom it might be - probably just her mother - though could feel Mary's body turn away from her. Suddenly, Mary's body stiffened, and she let go of Lily, turning completely. Lily kept her eyes on the small rise on the snow-capped ground. "I think your mother needs me inside, Lily, I'll be right back", Mary mumbled, squeezing Lily's hand. Lily could hear the crunching of Mary's feet in the snow as she walked away, and then the sound of another pair nearing her from behind. "Lily?" It took her a second to register the voice, along with the identity of the boy, but once that second had passed, fury flared up inside of her like lava - white hot and impossible to hold back. Before she knew it, she had spun around and marched up to him, shoving him once in the chest. "You jerk!" she yelled and started striking him repeatedly across the chest with the back of her hands, only vaguely aware of the tears running down her rosy cheeks. James stood still, he didn't even wince. "You heartbreaking", slap, "god-like", slap, "callous", slap, "bastard!" slap. With each strike it seemed a little more air left her lungs, till she felt like a punctured balloon. The fury that had flared up inside of her just seconds ago was gone, replaced by screaming despair. James turning her down on New Year's Eve was nothing compared to Harriet's death and it suddenly returned to her with shocking force. It was just too overwhelming, too painful to bear, and her legs caved in underneath her. She could feel James's strong arms wrap around her petite body, keeping her upright, and she started to cry for real. "I'm so sorry, James", she sobbed into his chest, her voice thick from crying. "It's gone, she's gone." "Don't you dare blame yourself for what happened, Lily, the Death Eater who cast that spell at you will pay for what he did, I'll make sure of that", he said, cupping her cheek as he made her look into his eyes. There was a mixture of emotions there. One was hurt - he wanted the baby as much as she did, she realized. He had never admitted it before, but she could tell now. "I could have run." Her crying had stopped now, gazing into his eyes. "That was my fault. If I hadn't acted the way I did … Lily, you mean the world to me, I was being all those things you said", James said, continuing to look deep into her eyes. Looking into his hazel eyes, Lily noticed something else. It wasn't about the situation they had been in, but the one they were currently in. It was a look of adoration; it was a look of love. "Though I have to ask, 'god-like'? Really? I mean incredible handsome would have done it." Lily chuckled, wiping away her tears with her sleeve as she swatted his arm. "Smug bastard", she said teasingly. Suddenly her smile faltered, seeing the look James was giving her. She couldn't tell what it meant, but it sent butterflies to her stomach and made her heart beat faster. The world tuned out and she suddenly couldn't remember why she'd been upset in the first place. James was standing so close she could feel his warm breath caressing her face, and it was distracting her. Memories of that night in the boat house flashed by in her mind, making her legs go weak from underneath her. "I should have done this a long time ago", James whispered, gazing into Lily's green, suddenly very wide eyes. And then he leaned closer to her and closed his eyes, tilting his head and bringing her face gently to his. Lily's head was telling her to run as far away as she could, but her heart was telling her otherwise, and she found herself cemented to the spot. After a few moments, she gave in and mimicked him, letting her eyes flutter shut in the heat of the moment. But then-- "Hey, Lily, I'm--" James and Lily immediately sprung apart from each other, creating what seemed to be a mile between them. The moment was gone. Lily suddenly felt very confused and cold. As if she'd just had a bucket of ice cold water dumped over her head. Alice stood on the porch, her cheeks adopting the color of a tomatoe. "Oh, I'm so sorry if I interrupted something, I just wanted to tell you I'm heading back to Hogwarts." She looked down at her feet for a mere second and then looked up with a smile on her face. "Well ... bye!" she said hastily and hurried back inside. Lily met James gaze again. For a few seconds they just stared at each other, but then they broke out in laughter. It was only for a short while, but it was enough to light a fire inside of Lily. A warm fire of hope - everything would be all right. When Playtime Becomes Reality [SV] 19 jun, 2012 22:26 |
